How Individuals Are Building Products Faster And Making Thousands Of Dollars

Today, I write about how individual developers, indie hackers, or solopreneurs are shipping multiple products every year and how some of these are so good that much larger corporations in competition are spying on them.

Competitive Spying On Indie Products

Let’s start with this tweet from @levelsio:

TL;DR: Pieter Levels has made an AI-based interior design tool called InteriorAI.com which makes $43K/month. Wayfair, an $8B company launched an AI tool in the same field last year. For months, Wayfair had been running multiple accounts on InteriorAI. Also, Wayfair’s new tool failed and receives 60x-100x less traffic than Pieter’s InteriorAI.

This single incident highlights some key points:

  • Individual developers can and do make better products than large companies.

  • Ideas are free to copy but this does not mean that you will outplayed by someone larger copying your idea.

  • The more you grow, the more you attract attention from both customers and the competition.

InteriorAI is not the only product that Pieter has made that rakes in thousands of dollars in revenue - he has 3 other tools making 5 figures every month.

He is probably one of the highest money-making indie hackers around but his work ethic and success are not an exception.

Shipping Fast

Consider @marc_louvion for example. He’s Product Hunt’s Maker Of The Year, shipping a whopping 14 products in 2023. His most successful product is ShipFa.st - a SaaS boilerplate that has enabled over 2000 makers to launch their startups faster. With ShipFast, Marc makes over $40K each month.

Marc has one of the best boilerplates in the most popular React framework, Next.js. In a couple of days, I’m soft launching, OneMix by SaasK.ing - a SaaS boilerplate made with Remix to launch your startup faster. It is available for pre-booking for half its launch price for just the next two days.

Failing Fast

But, it’s never a bed of roses. Do not be under the impression that solopreneurship is easy. Marc himself has 17 failed products and only 5 that make considerable revenue.

But failing quickly has its advantages. You propel yourself towards success quicker by failing faster. Through boilerplates like OneMix, you build products faster, increasing your development speed exponentially which ultimately gives you the ability to take multiple shots at the market with different ideas.

Ultimately, if you are serious about building products and making money, boilerplates is the way to go. This does not mean you need to buy somebody’s template every time - you can create your own boilerplate code in your local system and reuse it to ship faster. If you don’t have one, make use of what’s available in the market.

Ship faster, fail faster, and make more money.

OneMix Pro (Remix SaaS Boilerplate + Regular Updates + Customer Support + Discord Community) is available for half the price for the next two days on Saask.ing. One-time payment, unlimited use!
