Google just unveiled Willow - its state-of-the-art quantum chip.

Google claims Willow takes five minutes to solve a problem that would currently take the world's fastest supercomputers ten septillion – or 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 years – to complete.

It lends credence to the notion that quantum computation occurs in many parallel universes, in line with the idea that we live in a multiverse, a prediction first made by David Deutsch in his book ‘The Fabric of Reality’.

Developed at Google’s Santa Barbara lab, Willow's innovative design boasts 105 qubits. It represents progress in error correction, a key challenge in quantum computing. While the chip shows promise, its error rates must improve significantly for practical use.

Experts, including Google's Quantum AI Lab lead Hartmut Neven, note that commercial applications are likely years away.

Google published the scientific findings in Nature.
