This Founder Wants To Pay You For Your AI Bots

Aditya Saxena, Founder, PayMeForMyAI

Today, I interviewed Aditya (great choice of a name by the way), the founder of PayMeForMyAI. With his tool, Aditya wants to let AI bot creators monetize their work without paying hefty fees to companies like OpenAI.

Who are you and what motivated you to be an indie hacker?

I'm Aditya. I'm a software engineer working full-time on my apps. At the start of 2023, I was very excited by what was happening in AI. So, I started building out whatever I could, from a scripting tool for gaming engines (haddock) to a text-to-video generator with audio (shortvideogen). I took part in learning opportunities like @_buildspace and @pioneerdotapp to hone my building/shipping skills and read the stories of indie hackers like @marc_louvion and @levelsio, and felt very inspired and motivated. I left my job at Microsoft to focus full-time on projects. Most of them didn't work out but some of them did!

What are some of your previous projects?

My previous projects are all public

  • Haddock AI - which is a generative AI coding tool for gaming engines,

  • shortvideogen - a short video generator,

  • rentparcel - a marketplace for renting Land NFTs,

  • Screenshot2Code, a GPT-Vision powered code generator which was later successfully acquired.

Coming to PayMeForMyAI, what prompted you to build it?

PayMeForMyAI

I found that there was not an easy way to monetize an AI - no-code tools like Bubble had complicated workflows to achieve this. With the launch of GPTs, more people were building bots but they couldn't monetize them the way they wanted. Their users instead pay OpenAI $20/mo for access which could be instead going to the bot creators. So, I wanted to provide users with a platform where creators can

  • Build bots that can be shared with anyone publicly,

  • Charge users for using their bots, and

  • Connect their bank accounts using Stripe to get paid (we take 0 commission).

What does PayMeForMyAI offer that the competition does not?

The biggest competitive advantage that I see currently is to let creators on the platform fine-tune and train their models from the data ingested by their AI bots or hook up existing fine-tuned models to our platform. Additionally, our pricing is super attractive for the value offered - creators only need to focus on their frontend while we take care of hosting, revenue, analytics, and the backend.

What are your future goals for PayMeForMyAI?

Add fine-tuning and make it so that the creators can use more of their IP for storing user data or hosting the LLM on their private cloud (like Predibase).

How has the user response been? What are your most in-demand features?

We've got over 300 creators in just a couple of months since the launch. Payments and the ability to use custom domains has been the most in-demand feature!

Are you all in on this project or juggling it with a few others?

All in for now!

Anything else you want to share with the world (might not be related to your product)?

Don't have anything to share!
