How I Achieved 20,000% Growth on X

This November, I returned to X.

I have been a Twitter member since 2013 but I haven’t actively used it since I was in school.

I have been a strong advocate of building an audience through social media for your work. I have used Medium, Reddit, Product Hunt, and LinkedIn for the same. Also, Facebook and Instagram DMs.

It was time to build in public and I needed a platform where I could be active without spending too much time. X was the answer.

All ownership-related controversies aside, it is still the ideal platform to connect with like-minded creators, developers, and entrepreneurs.

These were my stats from October 2023 (when I was inactive):

I had only 556 views and 2 fewer followers than the previous month.

I started posting in November and boom…

The growth has been explosive.

Here are the four points that helped me achieve it (without using Premium):

  • High-quality content: I’ll be honest. I tweet funny or completely unrelated stuff at times. But mostly I focus on tech and SaaS. I tweet about building in public. This has allowed me to connect with fellow indiehackers.

  • Engage with others: Don’t be miserly with your likes. Hit ‘Like’ on what you appreciate to see more content of the same type. Comment meaningful words when you find something relevant. This helped me build quality connections.

  • Meaningful bio: What people do you follow? What bio would attract you? Write the same in your bio. Here is mine (I keep tweaking it):

  • Connect to Spaces: I have started this recently but I find it a good way to find like-minded individuals.

It’s a long way to go for me. My target is to reach 1K followers before 2024. But whether I achieve this or not is not as important as building quality connections.

If you’re wondering if new accounts can grow from 0 or not, yes, you can. I have noticed the X algorithm is slightly biased towards new but active accounts.

If you’re in tech and active on X, let us connect!

New Project Announcement: SaaS King

After the success of IconMage and The Micro SaaS Playbook, I’m now starting with my second SaaS project - SaaS King. I will be building it in public and you can follow the complete journey on my X.

Here’s a post where I was asking for help to choose the logo for SaaS King:

SaaS King will be a space for the best SaaS boilerplates where the technology will be decided by the users.

Every boilerplate will be made by considering popular demand. I will not be directly imposing my own tech stack choices on potential customers.

I’m just getting started. I have purchased the domain (saask.ing) and I will release a simple pre-launch landing page within a couple of days.

Stay tuned!
